At what age should you start treatment?
Some people say that you should start using a collagen biostimulator from the age of 40, but this is just a myth. “In reality, the sooner you start using a biostimulator, the better. However, we really start to notice a loss of collagen around the age of 35 and we see a worsening after the menopause,” explains Dr. Giseli.
Can it only be applied to the face?
According to Dr. Giseli, “we can apply it to any part of the body that clinically shows flaccidity. However, the dilution of the product can vary according to the area, so neck, neck, arms, thighs, buttocks and abdomen are indicated.”

Are there any side effects?
Yes, but they are “only transient effects and are considered normal, such as edema (swelling), mild erythema (redness of the skin) and ecchymosis (purple spots on the skin). Possible lasting effects, such as nodules, resolve naturally in a few months and are not permanent.”
How long does the collagen biostimulator last?
Anyone who thinks that collagen stimulators have a quick effect is mistaken! They last an average of one year, but additional sessions are necessary as we naturally lose collagen over the years. But remember to always consult your dermatologist so that he or she understands the needs of your dermis.

What is the difference between collagen biostimulators?
There are different types of biostimulators that meet different needs. Dr. Giseli uses ILIKIA's STIIM®, a collagen biostimulator based on calcium hydroxyapatite. “As well as having a very high degree of purity, the product's differential is its technology, which has a more modern particle with slower degradation, greater spreadability and uniformity at the time of application, resulting in a lower tendency to accumulate and form nodules,” explains the dermatologist.

Can this treatment be combined with other aesthetic procedures?
According to the dermatologist, it is often recommended to combine the collagen biostimulator with other procedures. According to her, combinations with hyaluronic acid, for example, help to further enhance the treatment of the face and buttocks.
In addition to cosmetic procedures, it's important to take care of your skin on a daily basis, which is why we've put together some products that will boost your dermis's collagen production.
