Dr. Matheus Kasai shares essential tips on how to leave hands looking rejuvenated and blemish-free

Hand Care - Reproduction
Face and body care always receive the most attention from people. In dermatology clinics, the main complaints are often about these areas. However, what ends up being overlooked is the attention paid to the body as a whole, including the hands, which also show signs of ageing.
With this in mind, we invited dermatologist Dr. Matheus Kasai - dermatologist at Daniel Dziabas Dermatology - to answer some questions and list the main tips, care and procedures for revitalizing the hands. See below:

What are patients' main complaints about their hands?
“Nowadays, patients are very concerned about having a complete treatment and have realized that there's no point in treating the face and leaving other areas aside. The hand has also started to be a very frequent complaint in the office, with patients saying ‘Oh, I do botulinum toxin twice a year, I do fillers, I do biostimulators, but my hand has spots, it's aged, it's flabby, it's lost volume’. When we talk about youthfulness and rejuvenation, on the face we notice a ‘crow's foot’, which begins to collapse. The hand is no different.”
Also according to the dermatologist, in patients who have slightly larger hands, the spider veins and tendons end up becoming apparent - leaving an aged appearance.
What treatments are recommended for this area?
“We use the biostimulator, which fills the whole area and stimulates the back of the hand. This improves the quality, texture and sagging of the skin. Apart from that, we also combine lasers - such as ADVA and Ultra 300 - to treat melanosis, which is sun spots. This combination is always the most recommended.”
Do you feel that the demand for these treatments is greater among older or younger women?
“Today, the patients who most seek hand treatment are the older ones, who arrive at the office already showing loss of volume, spots and sagging skin. However, I see that younger patients are already concerned about this preventative work, so they start treating their hands before they show the signs of ageing.
Which biostimulator is recommended for hand treatment?
“I've been using ILIKIA's STIIM here at the clinic to treat my hands. We already had other biostimulants on the market, but I have a preference for using calcium hydroxyapatite, which is the mineral found in STIIM. It has several distinguishing features, such as a purity level of 99%, which reflects the excellent quality of the product and makes it the gold standard for hand treatment. In addition, according to a study comparing it with other hydroxyapatite available on the market, we saw that its action time is faster. Another point is the product's technology, which degrades in layers. This way, we get more volume, a better effect and a longer duration.”
How many sessions are recommended and how long does the biostimulator last?
“It depends on the degree of sagging. Some patients have one to three sessions. The product stimulates collagen for 24 months, but the results we achieve during the sessions will not be lost after that period.”
What precautions can we take on a daily basis?
“In addition to the treatments mentioned above, it's very important to take care of your hands every day - such as using sunscreen and moisturizers specifically for this area. It's important to remember that each case is unique and the best treatment should be assessed by your dermatologist.”
